Independence Day Flower at Lalbagh Cancelled due to COVID19
The 2020 Independence Day Flower Show Lalbagh cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic. The 212th Flower show at lalbagh was planned to start from 9th August 2020. It will be very difficult to ensure social distancing in flower show as 50,000 to 60,000 people visit the flower show every day. If the situation improves, the lalbagh authorities may hold the annual flower show during the January 26, 2021
The flower show in Lalbagh Botanical Garden started in 1912 and this the second time flower show was cancelled. Previous occation of cancelling the flower show was during World War II in 1942.
Flower shows are conducted in Lalbagh everyyear during the week of Republic Day and Independence Day. Flower Shows are conducted to educate people about the variety of plants and develop a habit of planting trees and conserving them. There will be over 100+ stalls in Lalbagh for selling plants
